Make your vote count for Samford! It is your last chance for pre-election action. As you know the Samford Commons Board has been seeking a pre-election commitment from all sides of politics in the lead up to the State election.
A proposal has been discussed with all parties in recent weeks and at the Candidate Night held last night at Grovely, all candidates were asked to provide a public response.
Volker Jahnke, who represented the Board of Samford Commons at the event, said that there was unanimous agreement from all present that the proposal was of very high quality and would doubtless have great benefits for Samford, the region and the State.
“LNP candidate and current MP, Dale Shuttleworth, expressed strong personal support and told people that he had arranged visits to Samford Commons by government ministers and would continue to advocate strongly for the project to be solidly funded by the state government if re-elected. “
“Mark Furner, ALP candidate, indicated in a follow up meeting with Commons representatives that, if elected, he would fight tooth and nail to ensure that this vital community enterprise comes to fruition” said Kate vanderVoort, a member of the Board working on this funding project.
“Greens candidate Michael Berkman expressed strong support for the project and indicated he would endorse the proposed allocation of $2million from State funds which would match a provisional contribution from the Moreton Bay Regional Council.” said Volker Jahnke. “Independent candidate Di Gittins gave a similar undertaking.” he said.
“The economic contribution to the region will be in the vicinity of $33million over ten years so support from all tiers of government will be a great investment.” said Ms vanderVoort.
