New Music & Arts Series for Young People
Ink on the Couch, a new partnership with Samford Commons, launched on Sat 6 October. It is a music and art series for young people featuring up and coming artists from south east QLD, and providing live entertainment for young audiences.
Ink on the Couch is the brainchild of local residents Jay Denti and Nick Ravn. It provides a place for young artists to perform and exhibit their work, and offers a new local entertainment event for young people in the Samford valley.
“This is an evolution of our work to date”, Jay Denti explained, “bringing people together for mutual benefit and encouraging collaboration.” “We want to provide a platform for exposure for young artists with a focus on interesting and original work” Nick Ravn added.
The first event featured live music from Attic Salt, Cheapskates, Dear Willow, Sunken Hill & more; plus, art, bar and food in an intimate setting under the stars at the old CSIRO site north of Samford Village.
Samford Commons music adviser and mentor for the two young producers is local resident Chris Bowen, a career music sector professional: “These two young men have impressed me with their vision and abilities to deliver interesting creative activities within their community” he said.
Samford Commons is pleased to support this series which offers a new creative outlet for young people, promotes local community cultural growth, and offers a good night’s entertainment without the need to head over the range into the city.
